About
A bench, not a shop
Cyndustries exists because most explanations of modular synthesis are either a specification sheet or a sales pitch, and neither one tells you what the voltage is doing.
Every piece here starts from the same premise: a modular system contains no sound. It contains voltage, and a set of decisions about where that voltage goes. Audio, modulation and gates are the same substance at different rates. Once that is genuinely understood, most of the mystery in the format turns into arithmetic and patience.
So the writing is slow on purpose. We would rather spend nine hundred words on what an envelope's four controls physically are than list twenty modules that generate one. There are no reviews, no buying guides, no affiliate links and no scores out of ten. When a piece touches something that can hurt you or the hardware — mains voltage, rework on a populated board, feedback loops at levels a module was not built for — it says so plainly and stops at the boundary rather than pretending competence.
Everything is cross-referenced rather than ranked. Each article declares what fed it and what it feeds, the way a module declares its jacks, and the whole site can be read as one patch on the field. There is no reading order. There are loose jacks — pieces that need nothing before them — and you can enter at any of them.
The site is funded by a small number of partners who pay for the writing and see it at the same time you do. They have no editorial say, they are not linked from inside any article, and nothing on this site is for sale.
